3 Top Smoothie Recipes for Summer

The weather is starting to warm up in Perth and what a perfect time it is to start exploring what the abundance of summer fruits that are available for us. One of the best things about summer is sipping on some delicious smoothies! We’ve gathered our top 3 faves for you to try this summer. Perfect addition for when your besties are over or even as a healthy breakfast option.

All you need to do is chuck all the ingredients together in a blender!


**Toxin Cleansing Smoothie

1 Banana, small

1 cup Berries

1 handful Spinach

1tbs Flaxeed

1tbs Psyllium husk

1 cup water


Banana: packed full of nutrients, fiber, vitamins, and natural sugars. Apparently bananas can make you happy?

Berries: antioxidants in berries can help your body fight oxidative stress (what happens when your body does not have enough antioxidants to neutralize free radicals which are a cause of early aging) plus berries help to protect your skin and hair.

Spinach: is a super food loaded with tons of nutrients in a low calorie package. Dark leafy greens like spinach are important for skin and hair, bone health, and provide protein, iron, vitamins and minerals.

Flaxeed: Omega 3 fatty acids for heart, brain and development. A good source of soluble dietary fibre.

Psyllium Husk: Natural laxative that makes you go to the bathroom more regularly and more easily. Psylliyum husk soaks up water in your gut and makes bowel movements much easier. Added to your diet to help promote regularity and overall digestive health.


**Skin Glowing Smoothie

1 handful Spinach

1 handful watercress/pennywort

1 handful of parsley

1/2 ripe avocado

1 pear

1/2 lemon

4 ice cubes/ 1/2 cup of water


Spinach: Loaded with iron and potassium, spinach also contains lutein, which helps eyes to sparkle.

Watercress: A powerful antioxidant, with higher levels of iron than spinach, and more calcium than milk. Pennywort: increases memory, calms the nervous system (relaxes the mind), helps protects immune system from toxins. Pennywort has also proved to cleanse and purify the blood stream and can remedy certain skin conditions such as eczema.

Parsley: Parsley is so underrated as a superfood! It has the highest vitamin C levels of any herb and contains beta-carotene, which is converted into vitamin A for repairing and renewing skin cells. Chlorophyll and vitamin K also help reduce puffiness in the face and erase those dark under-eye circles. Avocado: contains a substantial amount of healthy monounsaturated fatty acids, vitamins and antioxidants that can improve your skin from the inside.

Pear: Pears are high in fiber but have a low glycerin index, which basically means they slow down the release of sugar into our bodies and skin cells. The result? Less damage to collagen and smoother skin.

Lemon: a natural immune booster, lemon helps detoxify your liver for better functionality. Also good for increasing metabolism.

· ½ banana

· ¼ cup blueberry yogurt

· ¼ cup almond milk

· ¼ cup orange juice
